DATE REMINDER USES
The original distribution diskettes comes with sample names, deadlines and
birthdays. These show a few examples for further date advisor uses such as
club membership renewals, audit dates and goal projections.
PRIORITY HOT-LIST
You can let this "things-to-do" list pop up either while browsing through
the data bank or from the outstanding matters menu.
You will note that when you add an new task, an additional row is created.
You may enter as much detail you like. Keep the important key words on
first line. This is intended to give you a faster overview because only
the first line of each window shows. To see further details on any
individual matter, simply press your ─┘ key or spacebar and the window
reappears.
The rankings on the left hand side are particularly significant. When you
change any number, your entire list will readjust itself in a split second.
Have you ever had so many things to do that you didn't know where to start?
Writing down what one has to do is a good beginning. This priority hot-list
takes the solution one step further. When you change the priority of one
task, all other tasks slip into the correct relative slot without manual
reshuffling.
The idea is that you use the priority hot-list for immediate matters
requiring your attention. For tasks which lie further ahead and which are
associated with particular dates, the automatic date advisor and
outstanding matters organiser may be more helpful.
OUTSTANDING MATTERS
Now you no longer need to reenter your dates every year as is the case when
using a manual diary. Also, you are advised without the effort of
specifically looking dates up anywhere. Once reminded, you are rereminded
any chosen number of times. This is flexible for each particular case.
Furthermore, when tasks need doing which have no definite due completion
date, using the outstanding matters organiser ensures that no task is
forgotten.
To extract only tasks of a certain type, it is always good to start your
outstanding matters comments with a key word. Examples of key words are
"Business", "Home duties", "Social obligations" and so on. When you search
for outstanding matters, typing a few beginning letters instead of the
entire word will usually suffice.
DATE IMPORTANCE STATUS
You will note that you may specify "Important - Yes or No" on the date
particulars screen. The reason for this is that one might wish to record
someone's dates at a stage when one is still undecided of the person's
significance. This way one may change one's mind later without being forced
to actually remove the dates in order to suspend the individual from the
date advisor.
TIP REGARDING MEMORY
Certain operations require additional system memory. If your computer runs
under DOS Version 3.3 or higher this program will flush all buffers at
crucial stages.
However, you might be using a lower version of DOS together with less than
640K of RAM. Although unlikely, the message "Insufficient Memory" may
appear if you perform particularly intensive deletions and organisations.
This may cause the program to terminate. The buffers will be clear when you
restart. Simply retry the operation and the problem should be resolved.
If your computer has less than 640K RAM, avoid running memory resident
programs such as Sidekick and the Contacts Manager at the same time.
